School's starting, and for the past few moments of my life (yea like once or twice), I walked into the library trying to kick start the habit of picking up books to study, to prepare for the "study mood" that I've lost after 1.5 years of not studying. So I went to the business and management section to pick up a few self help books, and I sat down reading. I came across this book (which I chuck it back to the shelf and left because I was late for MM prep and never found it again) which talks about the world today, the modern 21st century world, the VUCA world and it really encouraged me a lot a lot. Basically VUCA stands for Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, Ambiguity. And leadership management books have been focusing on this theory that if any leaders are able to overcome this, they are most probably gonna make it successfully. It was a very interesting read, a very interesting but real concept that describes our modern society today, not only in the business industry but also in our daily and personal lives.

I can't help but to ask God on why are we living in such a VUCA world... But as I skipped a few chapters and further on reading on the solutions, there seemed to be a turn, life can be turned, it can change from a negative VUCA to a positive VUCA.
Vision, Understanding, Clarity, Adaptability
They call this opportunity. Haha Yet how many people are adaptable to these changes, in this world of uncertainty and volatility, how are we able to perceive these things to be a positive one? How are we going to have the strength to persuade ourselves that VUCA happened for our own good, if we choose to turn it around and see it differently. I was really inspired by how Mr Lee Kuan Yew envisions things to happen, and it really happened. Just like how he envisioned the building of marina barrage and clean water supply, it really happened years later even tho he envisioned it during a not-so-advanced technological era. And how should we envision our lives to be in the future? There's a quote saying we are what we think we are. If we think we're nothing, then we will be nothing. If we think we cannot achieve it, we will never achieve it. but yet if we know that God has created us for a specific purpose in life, if we acknowledge that we can be vessels for God if we are willing.. then, if we envision ourselves to pioneer a life group, we can. if we envision ourselves to be a long term missionary, we can. if we envision ourselves to create a Christ-centered working environment, we can if we envision ourselves to change the quarrelsome family into a loving one, we can And when God gives us visions of where He has called us to, it will come to past. Because when we envision all this to happen, God is behind every works. We may not have the ability, but God has, and is faithful. :D When we have this positive VUCA mindset in our lives, entrusting God to the deepest issues in our lives, we will understand when we face trials, we will have a clear mind of which direction we wanna be in, and we become more adaptable to changes in according to where the spirit leads. Don't you think Life will be even more beautiful? :D |
